Dear Friends and Patients:
In more than 30 years of Family Medicine, I have built many treasured doctor-patient relationships, but now I find them to be compromised by Obama’s Affordable Care Act and the corporatization of health care. Under the burden of meeting these regulations, I have less time to spend with my patients and increased costs to run my practice, in addition to decreased reimbursement from insurance companies and the government. I have always prided myself in delivering quality personalized care, however, it has become progressively difficult to do so because of these constraints.
In order to continue offering my patients the best possible care, I will be converting my practice to a direct primary care (or “concierge care”) practice — and as such, will no longer be accepting any new Medicaid patients, but will continue seeing patients with Medicare and other insurance providers until further notice.
Briefly, this is a new approach to the old-fashioned practice of medicine, where patients’ needs come first, without the restrictions imposed by the government and insurance companies. In my concierge practice, an annual fee will cover expanded services, including access to my personal contact information and same day appointments. Read more about our direct primary care practice
The other available option would be to pay out-of-pocket on a fee-for-service basis, at affordable rates so Medicare and Medicaid patients can continue receiving care from me. The wonderful news is that all patients, regardless of what they choose, will benefit from reduced wait time and more individualized care with a greater emphasis on preventive medicine.
Enrollment for our concierge medical practice is now open, and you can get started by completing the quick and easy registration form found here. We will stop accepting insurance later this year once the transition is complete, so please watch our website and blog (or subscribe to e-lerts from Brazos Medical Associates) for more details.
I greatly value the trust you have put in me, caring for you over the years, and I hope you will consider investing in your health as we continue our partnership.
